Laphroaig distillery is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery. It is named after the area of land at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of the island of Islay. The distillery and brand are owned and operated by Beam Suntory, the American subsidiary of Japan's Suntory Holdings.
To produce a film capturing the reactions of members of the public (super important that they were not actors!) drinking Laphroaig for the first time.
Filming at our studios we captured high frame rate footage of people tasting Laphroaig for the first time and boy were there some intense reactions! It truly is an ‘acquired taste’ and there were those who loved it and those who couldn’t quite handle the Laphroaig intensity. It made for some amazing slo mo reaction shots. All of the casting was done by our production team who ensured a diverse set of contributors. We also had fun getting them to pronounce ‘Laphroaig’ a notoriously difficult word to say. The edit was offline and onlined at The Nest, our post production partner.
