The Client
The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. is one of the world's leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Clinique is one of these brands. In 1968, a savvy beauty editor asked a leading dermatologist “Can great skin be created?” Clinique was born. Clinique’s mission has always been to provide the safest, most effective formulas in simple routines that bring remarkable results. No parabens. No phthalates. No fragrance. Just #HappySkin.
The Challenge
Clinique needed a video to help promote their new House of Fraser gift ‘Beauty on the go’. The gift set included products such as their ‘Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream’ and ‘High Impact Mascara’ and the role of the video was to communicate all 6 gifts clearly and to show how this gift is great for a Clinique ‘girl on the go’. ‘Equipped with her gift she is ready for anything from day to night, work to drinks with friends. She is busy but not hectic. She is fun and goes out for lunch with friends/to the cinema.’
The Solution
Our creative team created a series of creative approaches and worked with the Clinique team to further develop into the film you see.
Casting a model who could perfectly portray our ‘on-the-go’ Clinique girl was essential and our chosen model was a brilliant mix of glowing beauty and lots of character. Her wonderful facial expressions and natural performance ability make the piece super fun to watch and really engaging. Clean and simple art direction reinforced the Clinique brand and the use of the ticking clock in the background created a fun take on the passing of time emphasising the ‘on the go’ mentality. The film was to be played throughout House of Fraser so product names needed to be featured. We shot with negative space in order to make the product names feel part of the scene.
The edit is where this piece really came to life, a mix of quirky, upbeat music, sped up moments and perfectly timed jump cuts gives the film a great energy and a real sense of ‘beauty on the go’.
